### Lesson Plan: Seasons and Weather
#### Grade: Kindergarten
#### Subject: Science
---
### Objective:
Students will be able to identify the four seasons and describe the typical weather associated with each season.
### Materials:
- Picture books or visual aids showing different seasons
- Seasons and weather flashcards
- Craft supplies (colored paper, cotton balls, glue, crayons, etc.)
- Weather symbols (sun, clouds, rain, snow) printed out or on flashcards
- Chart paper or whiteboard with markers
- Seasonal clothing items (e.g., hat, scarf, raincoat, sunglasses)
- Videos or songs about the seasons and weather (optional)
### Time:
60 minutes
---
### Introduction (10 minutes):
1. **Greeting and Warm-Up:**
- Start with a greeting song or activity to gather students and focus their attention.
- Ask a few introductory questions:
- "What is your favorite season?"
- "What kind of weather do you like?"
2. **Objective Introduction:**
- Explain to the students that today they will learn about the four seasons and the different types of weather.
### Main Activities (40 minutes):
1. **Season Identification (10 minutes):**
- Show pictures or a short video about the four seasons (spring, summer, fall/autumn, and winter).
- Discuss what each season looks like and the changes that happen (e.g., leaves change color, snow falls, flowers bloom).
2. **Weather and Clothing (10 minutes):**
- Show weather symbols and discuss what kind of weather goes with each season.
- Use seasonal clothing items to demonstrate:
- Hats and scarves for winter
- Sunglasses and swimsuits for summer
- Raincoats for spring
- Have students come up and match clothing items to the correct season on a chart.
3. **Hands-On Craft (15 minutes):**
- Divide students into small groups and provide them with craft supplies.
- Assign each group a season and ask them to create a collage that represents that season using the supplies (e.g., using cotton balls for snow in winter, or drawing suns for summer).
4. **Group Sharing (5 minutes):**
- Have each group present their collage to the rest of the class.
- Encourage them to talk about why they chose the elements they included in their collage and what kinds of weather are found in their season.
### Conclusion (10 minutes):
1. **Recap and Review:**
- Gather the students in a circle and review what they learned about seasons and weather.
- Use flashcards to quiz the students briefly on which season corresponds to which weather type or clothing.
2. **Closing Activity:**
- Sing a seasonal song or do a short dance related to weather.
- Provide positive feedback on participation and creativity.
### Extension Activities:
1. **Weather Chart:**
- Create a daily weather chart where students can record the weather each day for a week.
2. **Nature Walk:**
- If possible, take the students outside for a nature walk to observe signs of the current season.
### Assessment:
- Evaluate the students’ understanding through their participation in discussions and activities.
- Assess the seasonal collages and their descriptions for understanding of the material.
- Observe correct matching of weather symbols and clothing items during the hands-on activity.
---
### Adaptations and Modifications:
- For children who might need extra help, provide one-on-one assistance during the craft activity.
- Use larger and more visual aids for students with visual impairments.
- Create simplified activities for students with fine motor skill challenges, such as sticker collages instead of cutting and gluing.

This lesson plan aims to engage kindergarten students using multi-sensory activities that cater to various learning styles while making learning about seasons and weather fun and memorable.
